Chris Brown’s domestic violence accuser has revealed her identity ahead of a bombshell new documentary on the singer.
Earlier this month, a woman who accused Chris Brown of attacking her in 2016, has come forward for the first time on social media to reveal her identity ahead of her appearance in a new documentary about Brown. The film, Chris Brown: A History of Violence, was announced by Investigation Discovery in September.
A trailer for the film revealed that a new accuser would tell their story for the first time. That accuser is now known to be Liziane Gutierrez. In her Instagram post, Gutierrez wrote she isn’t sure if she’s “psychologically ready to face the consequences of appearing in this documentary,” but she couldn’t pass up the opportunity to let people know what she had been through and to tell her side of the story.
“Several women agreed to participate and share their stories. We all went through a similar situation,” she wrote. “We can’t be against domestic violence and simply ignore some cases, or, even worse, blame the victim. This is an investigative documentary in which I provided some evidence from the facts that happened with me back in 2016.”
“I can’t say much now, but please watch it when it airs on October 27, and then we can talk more about it once it’s released,” Gutierrez continued. “For now, I’m just going to leave a question for [you] all: If someone is lying about you, would you pay for their silence?”
The public has general knowledge of Chris Brown’s attack on Rihanna in 2009, in addition to alleged sexual assaults throughout his career. But the documentary will reportedly focus on previously unknown cases, such as Gutierrez and her story.
“With expert and cultural commentary layered in throughout, the documentary provides thoughtful reflections into each survivor’s experience and the psychological destruction in the aftermath of their abuse,” said the film’s producers in a statement.
