Kid Cudi is joining the cast of John Woo’s upcoming action-thriller, ‘Silent Night.’
Scott ‘Kid Cudi’ Mescudi is set to star alongside Joel Kinnaman, Harold Torres, and Catalina Sandino Moreno in the film. The film is currently in production in Mexico City, with Thunder Road Films and Capstone Studios producing.
The plot focuses on a father on a mission to avenge the death of his young son caught in gang violence on Christmas Eve. Shot and nearly killed while in pursuit of the murderers, the father vows to avenge his son. Kid Cudi is playing a detective named Dennis Vassel.
“Based on what we’ve seen from set so far, it’s clear that Scott has a presence and gravitas that is incredibly captivating,” says Joe Gatta, an executive producer for the film. “He is a powerful addition and the perfect complement to this stellar cast.”
Kid Cudi was most recently seen in Ti West’s horror film X and Adam McKay’s comedy, Don’t Look Up for Netflix. Kid Cudi has also appeared in Bill & Ted Face the Music, HBO’s We Are Who We Are, and Westworld Season 3. He’s also appeared in the Amazon Prime video documentary, A Man Named Scott. He is making his directorial debut with Teddy, a Netflix comedy produced by Jeymes Samuel and Jay-Z.
The rapper launched his production company Mad Solar, backed by Bron Studios, last year. As a musician, he’s released seven studio albums, sold 22 million certified records in the U.S., and has won two Grammys among five nominations. Kid Cudi landed his first Billboard #1 on the Hot 100 chart with “The Scotts,” a collaboration between himself and Travis Scott.
Robert Lynn penned the Silent Night screenplay. Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee are producing for Thunder Road, with Christian Mercuri for Capstone Studios. Lori Tilkin is producing for A Better Tomorrow Films. Capstone’s David Haring, Joe Gatta, and Ruzanna Kegeyan are all executive producing alongside Mike Gabrawy and Will Flynn for Thunder Road.
