Look out, Fortnite: Overwatch 2 is set to debut its “first-ever in-game musical artist collaboration” with K-pop girl group Le Sserafim.

The Blizzard Entertainment-developed title just recently outlined the tie-up with Seoul’s Le Sserafim. Signed to Hybe-owned Source Music and distributed by Universal Music’s Geffen Records in the States, Le Sserafim made available an initial studio album, Unforgiven, back in May.

Now, the five members behind the “fearless group” are poised to drop the music video for their forthcoming English-language single, “Perfect Night,” in the world of Overwatch 2, per the formal announcement put out by Blizzard.

According to the involved parties, said music video will specifically arrive in the multiplayer game on the evening of this coming Thursday, October 26th, coinciding with the track’s broader streaming service rollout. Also teed up for the free-to-play Overwatch 2 – but not at the same time as the music video – are a “Le Sserafim-inspired game mode” as well as “exclusive in-game items, including Legendary hero skins.”

Additional details about the latter should arrive on Monday, October 30th, higher-ups signaled, with the game mode and digital items slated to go live on Wednesday, November 1st.

Not confined to the world of Overwatch 2, which reportedly boasts north of 1.5 million daily active players, the Le Sserafim deal is further expected to see the girl group deliver “a special performance,” including the aforementioned “Perfect Night,” during the second and final day of BlizzCon.

(BlizzCon 2023 is scheduled to take place in Anaheim on November 3rd and 4th, and each general-admission ticket will set one back a cool $299 plus fees, the appropriate AXS-powered ticketing page shows. Plus, the happening “will be live streamed free of charge,” per the same source.)

Moving forward, it’ll be worth monitoring the potentially far-reaching commercial impact of Le Sserafim’s Overwatch 2 partnership and of future artist agreements involving the popular title.

Several high-profile acts, Ed Sheeran among them, have already performed in Epic Games’ initially noted Fortnite, and metaverse developers are currently coordinating with different musicians yet on other in-game initiatives.

Particularly at the intersection of K-pop and gaming, August saw Blackpink launch a Roblox experienced called “The Palace.” And more recently, Robbie Williams last month dove into the Web3 space by inking a performance-centered pact with AI-powered metaverse platform LightCycle, which is said to function as “a realistic virtual commercial city.”
