Meat-Loving Ranchers Protest Joan Jett’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Performance…

Kicked off a Macy’s Thanksgiving float because of your diet? That’s basically what happened to Joan Jett.

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts were removed from South Dakota’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade float after ranchers protested the scheduled performance.

The ranchers do not like Joan Jett’s vegetarian diet and her vocal criticisms of livestock production. Jett is also an active PETA supporter, an organization that receives its own share of criticism.

Jodie Anderson of the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association said:

“We were rightly concerned about her representing South Dakota and a state that is so heavily reliant on agriculture and livestock production to drive our economy.”

Jett says she is switching to another unnamed float because the ranchers let politics get in the way of “a purely entertainment driven event”.

What a tool–she’s well-fed, yet wants to take away someone else’s paycheck so she can feel all warm and fuzzy about herself.

She’d beg for raw meat if she were hungry enough.

I think the point is she doesn’t need to eat animals to survive, so she doesn’t….

    • Huh?

Eating meat helps starving people and boosts the economy? Is that your stance?

So if Joan Jett was anti-smoking we should explain to her that all those tobacco farmers will be out of work and if she were drowning underwater and her only source of oxygen was through a lit hooka pipe then she would be begging to smoke?

No kidding if you were hiking and lost your trail like this movie I watched. And how about thst Airplane crash when they had to eat human to survive. True story. Of course the had passed and they were put on the moutain ice. They crashed on a moutain snowing awful. True movie and sad. But in reality it is healthy to cut down on meat eating. We need to cut down on unhealthy food period. But this world has gone nuts anyway. Right now enjoy your life in whatever you like doing as long as you don’t hurt your fellow man or inocent animal. Happy Holidays and pray for we middle class and below we are in trouble. Just watch the underground news. It’s scary. So enjoy every day to the fullest. Amen..

If she were my squeeze, I’d tell her to STFU and bring me a hamburger.

I hate insincere tards who have nothing better to do. I like meat, she can bite me.

PETA supporter…that’s all that needs to be said. UNINFORMED & self righteous.

Wow, some nasty and uninformed people on this site. I think it’s great she’s taking a stand. A vegetarian diet is more humane and healthier. Also, producing meat increases world hunger – it’s a very inefficient use of land.

I get what she is trying to do her and she’s making a stand for what she believes in. Whether her motives are self righteous. But, she should have thought about having a float about being vegan at a parade that revolves around turkey and the fact it was located in a conservative state of South Dakota with alot of cattle farmers. Can’t please everybody and that’s life.
