Rumors surface of a massive Rihanna comeback tour and $32 million deal with Live Nation — but are those reports ‘bogus?’
Over the weekend, reports surfaced from multiple outlets that singer Rihanna had signed a multi-year $30 million-plus contract with Live Nation, with plans for a major world tour through 2024 and 2025. But a “high-level” source has told Billboard that no such deal has been brokered, and no tour has been confirmed for Rihanna.
Promoters like Live Nation would be thrilled to get their hands on a global Rihanna tour, but a source close to the situation says the singer has not committed to any touring projects for next year. Additionally, Live Nation has not placed any holds on venues for an upcoming tour, a process which would take several months to finalize.
Rihanna, who hasn’t released new music since 2016, is also rumored to be recording new songs, which may still be true — and fan demand for new music from one of the most commercially successful artists of all time is second to none.
Rihanna boasts 14 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, a feat only surpassed by Mariah Carey and The Beatles. Her 2016 album, Anti, was followed up with a tour in 2017 that generated over $110 million in worldwide sales. The superstar has only performed three times since, including this year’s Super Bowl halftime show.
With the success of her record sales since the early 2000s and her phenomenally lucrative cosmetic company, Savage X Fenty — estimated to be worth around $1.4 billion — the Barbadian singer doesn’t really need the money that a global tour would certainly generate.
But between her two young sons (Riot Rose, born in August this year, and RZA, born in May 2022) which she shares with rapper A$AP Rocky, Rihanna has some pretty compelling reasons not to want to head out on a tour any time soon.
