Melody Campbell’s The Sound Bank teams up with Quality Control Music for ‘The Quality Check Competition’ to unearth the UK’s next global superstar.
Music industry veteran Melody Campbell and her UK-based creative hub, The Sound Bank, have teamed up with US hip-hop giants Quality Control Music and their esteemed marketing manager Mr. Too Official, to unearth the UK’s next global superstar through a nationwide talent competition. The Quality Check Competition, a nationwide search for talent, is now open to participants of all backgrounds for a £10 entry fee, and closes at the end of July.
Quality Control, the US-based music label home to hip-hop stars like City Girls, Migos, Lil Baby, and more, predominantly broke into the mainstream thanks to their main marketing manager, Mr. Too Official. He will be flying in from Atlanta to participate alongside Melody Campbell in activities for the talent search.
Melody Campbell rose to fame as an innovative sound engineer after creating the UK’s first pay-as-you-go recording studio, Instant Melodies, in 2004. Having maintained a strong friendship of nearly 20 years, Melody and Mr. Too Official realized their aligned desire to see more British acts reach international status. Recognizing the great value in musicians building overseas audiences, relationships, and collaborations, they asked themselves if they could aim to find the UK’s next global superstar.
“I’ve never been a fan of music competition reality shows, maybe because the primary focus slowly starts to pull away from the talent and it’s more to do with entertainment and pulling in numbers for viewership,” Melody Campbell told Digital Music News. “There just really seemed to be a lack of platforms and alternatives that could propel someone’s music career on a similar scale, and that’s what we are trying to create here.”
With the help of talent scouts dotted in London, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Wales, and Margate, the top fifteen acts will perform in the finals at The Sound Bank’s annual music seminar in Waterloo on September 14 and 15, featuring a judging panel featuring two Quality Control executives, livestreamed by Mimi the Music Blogger.
The winner will receive an exclusive management deal and an exclusive studio session at The Sound Bank with a top London producer and guided by Mr. Too Official. Afterward, the winner will embark on an all-expenses paid trip to Atlanta to promote their new single recorded with Quality Control.
